I was injured during a haircut and I don't think it was handled properly. What should I do?

Last Friday, I went to my local Great Clips location to get my hair trimmed. My hair is very short and always scissor cut, so it was going to be a quick visit. I've been going to this same location for a very long time and my hair has been cut by several different people there as well. Having such short hair, I've never wanted to go to a salon to pay 40 bucks for a trim, but now I'm starting to reconsider.

The stylist had barely started trimming my hair with the scissors when I felt a bit of a sting on the right side of my head. I assumed maybe she had pulled my hair because the pain was minimal. No big deal. Then, she began trimming on the left side of my head and I suddenly felt a much larger sharp pain. Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of her comb and it had a large amount of blood on it. She froze, stared at my head for a good ten seconds before dumbfoundedly saying, ';I cut your ear........... it's bleeding pretty bad.'; She finally grabbed a towel and began putting pressure on it. She then said she was going to go get her manager who, at the time, was cutting another customer's hair. The manager came and asked if I could just hold the towel and put pressure on my ear, which I did. The stylists weren't rude, but they genuinely looked like they had no idea what to do. They didn't offer any form of first aid at all. I was able to stop the bleeding, but man, it bled pretty bad. The woman finished the haircut and used small clippers to neaten up the back of my hair and round it off. I felt bad for the stylist because I think she might've gotten freaked out at the sight of me bleeding so badly. I tried to make her feel better about it and understood it was an accident.

The stylist took me up front to pay, but she wouldn't make eye contact with me. She said the haircut was free because she had cut my ear. I acknowledged, and she quickly turned away.

Normally, I would've given this a second thought, but I was battling some pretty severe allergies that day and my medicine was wearing off. I went home, but I started to really think about it and wondered why they didn't fill out any kind of incident report about the injury. I mean, I worked at a grocery store before and we had to fill out incident reports for things as wild as customers causing their own injuries (horsing around, etc). To make matters worse, when my fiance came home, she discovered that the stylist had also nicked my right ear.

Well, my allergies were enough to keep me in bed until Monday. When I came to work Monday, my co-workers noticed this silver dollar sized BUZZED patch of hair on the very back of the left side of my head! I can understand nicking one ear. It's an accident, and it's unfortunate. But nicking an ear, taking a small chunk of skin out of the other ear, and buzzing a large patch on the back of my head? Wow!

I called their corporate office, which was closed, and left a message. I don't want to seek medical attention because although this will scar, it looks to be healing okay. I don't want to get an attorney because I'm not looking to buy myself a new car and get a new wardrobe; that's not me. But I don't feel good about how the situation was handled. Any advice for me? I apologize for the length of the entry, but I wanted to make sure to give the full story. I DO still have my receipt and she did write ';cut ear'; across the top. I've also taken photos of my hair and the injuries. What should I do now?I was injured during a haircut and I don't think it was handled properly. What should I do?
Try presenting this situation to some paramedics at a fire station, to see how to report such a thing, especially about your bleeding. Think they should have been called, and a report taken. Be careful that no real hardship happens to Great Clips by any publicity, but call the coporate office again about it. Since sounds like such a bad haircut was given you, think about everyone else that got bad haircuts just like yours. Stylist needs more schooling and manager will probably be told that by the coporate office.I was injured during a haircut and I don't think it was handled properly. What should I do?
sue them bitches
Well I think you should contact the corporate office and let them know even if your not looking to press charges they still need to know what happened and that they didn't fill out an incident report or have a way to help you.
If you wear your hair short, the slip up she made will grow back. It shouldn't have happened, but accidents happen. Call the corporate office and make a complaint. Don't get all sue-happy and call an attorney like what some other people are telling you. You get what you pay for and in a week of 2 your hair will be back to normal and cut should be healing.
Come on dude. cowboy up,, and go somewhere else. You get what you pay for.

If your hair is that short buy some clippers and do it your self.. they come with guards and your fiance can clean up the edges.

I haven't paid for a haircut in years..
they probably did file a report after you left and this probably happens more often then you or even i realize so they have a different procedure where you dont need to sign the paper i mean you know the risks invovled when getting a haircut. you simply trust the person not to do it to you. my advice ot you is if you like going ot great clips keep going there but keep going to the same hair stylist learn his/her name and when you book an appointment make sure its them that way you know this situation isnt likely to happen agian and you dont have to pay $40 for a hair cut im sorry about your ear :(
I would recomend going to a doctor and talking to your lawyer I mean no mater how nice they are i mean its just not right you can take the money and donate it to charity if you want too hope that helped

-lily
You definately should have seen a doctor and made a complaint then and there... you also shouldn't have paid for it... contact their corporate office again to see what they say!

Poem I wrote during school today:?

I seek pleasure. I seek the nerves under your skin. I am old hero, older then wacko pervert superfucking man. I am wh*re who seeks experience. Excitement. Curiosity. The only conscious thing in our world is to love and be loved. Seek the hollow thrill. Say how you really, really feel. I am sister of the gods and gods own daughter slaughter. Will you be my daddy? Will you be my girlfriend? The single family who branches out from Rome, to Australia, to Brazil, and Puro, to Africa and Nebraska. Kiss me, the vase, and we can finally die together, I am not afraid. You did everything you could, and everything you felt you should. Patti, doll, you've destroyed me but I love you. Desire is a heat rash, but no illusion. Teeter forever on those golden scales, then sing me into eternity. I wanna be you lover, baby. I wanna be your man. I wanna be your lover, baby. I don't wanna be hers, I wanna be yours. Day old Joey with gray hair, premature baby cries heart into salt canal. Secluded movie stars, stretch marks on her sagging tired breasts like cake. Cashier boy's Calvin fixed scent lingers deep after hours, take a shower, pick some flowers, stolen change. We're all here now and everything's okay. We're all coming over now, and we won't be leaving right away. Then I fall into a pit. Pit of sh*t and sh*t. Inside of it. I skip like so many school kids, think of when time stops, electricity. I am inside a cartoon and I can't feel a pinch but I like it like that, like it like that, like it like that. These trite, tattern ponchos and scarves say piss and five bucks about me. I grow the fur of an animal under my arms and cut my own lawn with silver nail clippers, supported by, short, grody fingers, blistered pressing wire hangers, scraping pie crust drippings. Place is like a field day scent, latex caricature. Ovens and clamming steel machines like the guts of a clock, tick tockin', rock n' roll, tick tockin', my generation, beating. Can you feel? Stink.Poem I wrote during school today:?
you potrayed public school so perfectly therePoem I wrote during school today:?
This is one of two best poems I've read today. Good work.

I asked this question last night, but no one was online. Tell me what you think?

These trite, tattered, ponchos and scarfs say p*ss and five bucks about me.

I cut my own lawn with silver nail clippers

Supported by short, grody fingers

That have been blistered pressing wire hangers downtown, Nebraska

and f*cked real bad scraping pie crust drippings from the bottom of my landlord's gas oven.

I sweep the porch before heading off, Tulsa Welding School,

place's like a feild day scent, latex caricature.

Ovens claming, Tight wound metal devices,

like the guts of a clock,

tick-tockin'.

and studio girls and boys, gather because of collected pompous attitudes,

to share slick, icy gestures

lip-lockin'

without me.

I snort ashes from the thighs of virgins,

And chew the human adrenaline gland.

Clearwater is a perfume luxury,

Fish rot while they're still swimming.

Mexico City

I bought buckets of cheap jewelry

On my visit, to dig for buried treasure,

But I didn't like the weather.

Now I'm back and wearing leather,

Waiting for my umbrella.

The first days are spent comptemplating what I know I know.

A fraction is a division problem.

Mile long one step equations force children over jungle gym tops.

A man owns the river I went down to draw,

';Tresspassing,'; the sign complained,

Holding me back with a silver chain.

I keep on walking.

Instead of water, mud and garbage sunk on the bottom of natural crater

When the silver thawed, swampy pickle trees with thin trunks drooped like tired d*cks,

Exhausted sucking moisture from the soft mother bricks.

Over the gloss and sticky dirt carnival, hurricane disaster,

Plastic bag habitat, Silver man tricks

CLEAR WATER IS A PURFUME LUXARY,

FISH ROT WHILE THEY'RE STILL SWIMMING.

I sat to draw what I saw,

and it all turned out quite charming.

Help with finding websites about hair stylist and such?

For this project, we have to identify a career and list things about it like this.

EX.鈥?The kind of work or tasks people in the career perform

Hairstylists shampoo, cut, shave, perm, straighten, and style hair or hair pieces. They also colour, streak, and bleach hair, add highlights and extensions, and perform various scalp treatments. In addition, they may trim, shave, and style moustaches and beards. Hairstylists who cater mostly to male clients are usually referred to as barbers.

鈥?The tools, instruments, or equipment they use

These items include brushes, combs, curlers, scissors, clippers, razors, hair and scalp treatment products, and hair dryers. Hairstylists must make sure that their tools of the trade are kept clean and sharp.

鈥?Where they work

Salon, self owned place, mall, etc ..

鈥?How much income they earn and factors that affect their income

Hairstylists usually earn between $10,000 and $45,000 a year, depending on whether they work part-time or full-time. The average salary for a full-time hairstylist is about $25,000 a year. As you become more skilled in hairstyling, your salary may rise.

鈥?The education and/or training needed to get into the career

Some High schools offer courses in hairstyling, which are a good idea to take. Certification usually requires a combination of courses at a community college or private institution, plus on-the-job-training. Education varies from province to province, country to country. In some provinces the minimum requirement is grade 10, while others require a high school diploma. Many people complete their on-the-job training as part of a provincial apprenticeship program. These programs vary in length from 2 to 3 years.

鈥?Where to get more information on the career (e.g. helpful websites)

鈥?What real people in the career have to say about it (what they like or dislike about the career, what advice they have for people who want to get into the career, etc.)

Dislike: ';I don鈥檛 like standing all day long. Being on my feet can be really tiring and even painful, sometimes. The hours can be very long and clients can be very demanding. My income is unpredictable. I can have slow weeks and because I work on commission, sometimes I don鈥檛 make .....

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Anyways, what I do NOT get is this.

鈥?Where to get more information on the career (e.g. helpful websites)

.. So if you can get websites about that sorta thing .. whatever it means, could you please post or atleast answer what they want?

Yeah, ten points to whoever helps most. =)Help with finding websites about hair stylist and such?
Evaluating a career can be a veritable trial, and you desire to be sure that you make the true choice because your career can influence so many areas of your life. A friend of mine during the last couple of weeks had a change of career and he stumbled upon loads of instruction from the website in the box below before making his choice.

How come hairstylists never listen to their customers?

It really cheeses my fries.

Whenever I go to a salon to get my haircut, they ask me what I want and how I want my hair cut, styled, etc.

I'll tell them in precise, clear words how I want stuff.

But then, when they're cutting my hair, they do the complete opposite of what I told them!

Why is this?

My hair isn't hard to work with and the texture of it is normal and yet, they never do what I ask. I don't get? Is it hard to follow orders or something?

I just feel like hairstylists only cut your hair how THEY want it even though it's YOUR hair that they're cutting. I guess it doesn't matter, right?

All I wanted was a fade and the back cut straight across and then she started doing all of these things I never told her to do. I kept on having to remind her every 5 seconds but she still didn't listen. I felt like it was pointless because she just wanted to do it her way. But this happens a lot and I see it a lot, too.

I realize everyone's hair is different and not all of their wants are going to get met because it may be unrealistic for their hair texture but it just seems hairstylists only do what they want to do to someone elses hair and I find it to be very rude.

And this was Supercuts. I've been in high class salons and it's still the same procedure. I think it just matters on their opinion and not yours. They charged me $17 bucks! I mean, for a fade and everything? It only requires clippers! It's so easy but I don't know how to do it because I don't want to ruin my own hair, you know? But if you're a hairstylist, clippers seem to be a dream to work with... and she used scissors but it wasn't forever.

I ended up giving her a $20 and told her to keep the change because I'm nice.

Thoughts? How come hairstylists never listen to their customers?
I agree with you. I even take pictures in with me each time. One time I had a picture from the front, and one from the side. I asked for her to put in layers, just like the picture. Instead, she cut it straight across in the back (far too short) and left it blunt. when I asked why she didn't do it anything like I had asked, she said, 'I don't think that would look good on you.' Like, why didn't she say that in the first place!? I could have gone somewhere else and got it done right.

I think they like having that control over you.How come hairstylists never listen to their customers?
trust me. i know EXACTLY what you mean. i remember asking for about an inch off of my hair one time and they cut off like 4 inches! i have to pay about 35 bucks for a hair cut. i complained once but they seem to be getting better. (:
well people are probably saying ';Give me this give me that blah blah blah'; and he/she doesn't want to deal with any more customers so she might be getting rid of you

OR

He's/She's life has been really tough and they are really stressed

That's what I think

How do you buzz your own head?

I hate going to the harbor shop, mostly because I don't want to pay money for something that will grow back and I will have to pay money again. A friend of mine who has moved, would cut my hair since he was good at it, and when I swam I would use a 1'; on my clippers and just go all the way. Well my girlfriend doesn't like when I do that, she says I look like a badass and she don't like that, go figure I thought girls like bad boys. O well I' am not too much into impressing any girls, I just need to clean up my head a bit, cause its a mess. How do you go about cutting it your self? I've done it before, using like a 4 or a 5, but I always wanted to know what would happen if I would go with a five all around, and then a 4 in a back of my head, and then down to 3 near my neckline? How do you buzz your own head?
4 or a 5? thats not buzzed! 1 or a 2 is buzzed. I always cut my hair like that (buzzed). Ive cut my hair a few times and its not that hard unless you dont have mirrors then it will be hard. Harder is to do the edge-up especially in the back. i suggest just go to get it cut. it saves all the time and work

How do I go about convincing my aunt to stop perming my 6 year old niece's hair?

Sorry for the long a$$ ? but please read it all if you're going to answer. (back story: my brother's a single dad and our aunt's help to take care of her...ie doing her hair...before the perm she had beautiful thick long hair)

First off I live in a different state than they do so it's difficult to get my point across and then see if they listened. I do have permed hair myself and have been considering going natural for a long time now because of the affects it has had on my hair. I found out about a year ago that my aunt had gotten my niece's hair permed. She immediately asked my brother what I had to say about it...I said ';what is there to say, it's done now...'; I was NOT OKAY with it but like I said ...it had been done. Since then it has taken a very horrible turn like I predicted (I predicted this bc NONE of my aunts know how to properly care for a perm on a day to day basis. All they know is you got to keep getting them put in on a set schedule or your hair will start to come out. I know they don't know how to care for one because ALL of them have very thin short hair and can't do anything more with their hair than squeeze it back into a tiny thin pony tail (one of them even went completely 100% bald and now can only wear wigs for lack of taking care of her own hair!). They send her to a beautician to perm it but it is still coming out. I want to convince them (I've already convinced my brother who knows NOTHING about hair) to cut her hair shorter than short and keep braiding it so that she wont have a perm any more by the time her hair finishes growing back. I know this will take a long time but will be totally worth it because her hair looks like night and day from her natural hair to the mess that's sitting on top of her head now.

How bad is it coming out you say? Well at Christmas time the left side behind her ear was completely without a lick of hair. It trailed on down to the nape of her neck on the same side. I saw her again during MLK weekend and the entire right side and whole nape of neck (including left side) was now bald too! It looks like they took a set of clippers to the child's head! Not to mention the front of her hair is VERY thin! In just hat short amount of time it has ZERO hair in those places! So my question is how do I convince my aunt (because she's very disagreeable and older and stuck in her ways) that it will be hard and a long process but will be beneficial to the child to cut it all off a little at a time and try it again? I usually get in arguments with her about my niece and I do honestly believe I have a valid point on this one. We both really love my niece and she does help my brother in other ways that help but this is certainly no help. I don't want to offend her or argue but this HAS to stop before the child has self esteem issues (like I did as a child)because when she looks in the mirror all she sees is what she's left with on her head. How do I go about convincing my aunt to stop perming my 6 year old niece's hair?
Be blunt, say all those chemicals cannot be healthy for a child so young. How do I go about convincing my aunt to stop perming my 6 year old niece's hair?
if your neice likes it then let her, if not then get the niece to stop her.
Be nice about it and let her know someone commented on your niece's hair and tell her what the comment was. Maybe that will help.

Whether you know how to take care of permed hair or not. Eventually the wear-and tear of perm on your hair will cause bad effects. I know up until 5 months ago i always thought perms were the way to go but i realized that my hair started thinning and i knew it was time for a change. I cut my hair and stopped perming it and im proud to say it has grown back in full. This is a 6 year old, she does not need a perm. Her hair WILL grow!!!! if thats an issue and if it's not then you need to be on this website http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/ it gives you a lot of information you will need to know about taking good care of your hair and other websites that will give you other useful information. Im not too sure what to do about your parents or aunts or whoever though. You know how older people are! They are stuck in that old school mind set that can't be changed and narrowmindedness and ignorance is so bliss!! Instead of talking to them try talking to your niece and convince her not to get it; Tell her when she gets up she'll have nice long hair like the mexicans and white people instead of bald headed like most the typical black women now a days. =]] sorry i hope this helps. How do I go about telling my aunts to stop perming my 6 year old niece's hair?
i think you should tell your aunts that it is a bad idea and they should fix it as soon as they can... but the main question is, why does a six year old need a perm anyway? its so unnatural and it looks bad once it dies out a bit. if she wants her hair to be curly, buy a curling iron or get some hair rollers for her... the poor little thing
Why would anyone want to put chemicals on a child's head?

You shouldn't even have to convince them, are the blind to the fact the girl is going bald?!
have them to watch that movie good hair . she wrong for putting those harsh chemicals on that poor childs tender scalp aint nothing wrong with putting a hot comb to that childs head or getting it flat ironed since you want to apply heat. tell her is she cut it all off and just start it natural and dont put no chemicals her daughter will not hate her later on. I have hella thick hair and my mom permed me at the of 9 and i did hate it but now my mother wished she would have waited later on and i wished she would have done the same its better for the child to cry now then to be grown and cry later because she dont have no hair

What # on the clippers should I use before I go back to school after Christmas break? Pic included!?

First I have to say is its your opinion of what you think of what # on the clippers should I use all over my head before I come back from Christmas Break. I don't care if your a hair dresser or a barber with experience or not, just please give your opinion because it counts.

I have basketball tryouts for my middle schools team in mid January like January 14th or so. I'll be trying out for the 8th grade team with other 8th graders, and some 7th graders will also make the team. Also I need a haircut/buzzcut before school basketball tryouts even start.

I also need a haircut/buzzcut because I think its too long in the back of my head and the rest of my head like the top and sides are okay just the back needs shaping a little bit.

Also I'm going to do it before December 30th, 2009 because I'm having some friends over my grandmoms house and they always say and look at my hair and tell me I need a haircut but that's just when I really need one. And one of my friends that I will be hanging out with on December 30th asked me if I wanted to get my head shaved by him he said he can cut hair. I said maybe in like a few years. So I would prefer buzzing it myself because I know how I started buzzing my own hair since picture day in October of this year.

Also please don't say use no attachment on the clippers and just go bald or close to bald or any attachment that will go close to bald at all, if you do I will report you on yahoo answers.

Just please give me your opinion of what you think of what # on the clippers should I give myself a buzzcut/haircut.

PS if anyone says how ugly I look or anything that is bad or inappropriate I will report you on yahoo answers.

Thanks for your opinion counts. What # on the clippers should I use before I go back to school after Christmas break? Pic included!?

there isn't a special ';fading'' clipper attachment, you have to know how to fade hair and somebody has to do it for you

Would this be fair for your friend doing this to you? Please read... and 10 points to best answer.?

I'm Jon of course, but my friend Scott that is 14 or 15 years old and hes in 9th grade at the high school. Scott is also a male barber, meaning he cuts his hair and his brothers hair. I meaning Jon is 14 years old and in 8th grade at the middle school. Jon just started to cut his hair about 1 month and a half ago.

Since early July, Scott %26amp; Jon have been fighting, arguing, and calling each other names, and mostly not getting along.

Jon wants this friendship to still happen, because friendships will help you in life when you grow up like when you get older.

Here's how it all started. In early July, Scott and Jon have been texting each other probably about 50-60 times for the mouth of July, but Scott told Jon only a few more text than I had enough. Jon sent about 10 to Scott in like 3 days. Scott said now on if you text me you have to pay me $ 5 bucks for each text you sent. So I texted 15 more. Scott said give me the $ 75 bucks lets say by the end of the month at wawa sometime. I said we have the same phone dummy, and each text is $ 1 each, so I really owe you $ 15. Then in mid July Scott goes to camp about a few hours away from Jon's house. Scott goes how about we make a deal Jon, and that is in mid November I give you a Winter Buzzcut and I shave your back, leg, arm, and your beard hair off. I said I'll get back to you by November 9th, 2009. Scott said okay and remember the haircut I give you will be $ 5 bucks for it. I said okay.

Then in August, Scott makes fun of my 14 year old cousin Joshua by talking about him, like im going to beat your cousin Josh up on the 1st day of school in like a few weeks. I said hes strong as **** and your like a bennie bag. Scott said I've been lifting 100lbs everyday and I'm strong now. I said my cousin lifts about 180lbs everyday and he can beat up anyone really. Scott said yeah right your just saying that. I said no im not kidding bye.

This will be Jon's 1st haircut by his 14 year old friend Scott.

Jon thinks Scott will do a good job if he just uses the hair clippers all over my head. I don't know if Scott will do a good job if he uses shears to cut my hair with, because he could mess up my hair with using shears.

Questions for the public to answer:

    1. If you were in this situation, would you think it would be fair to not pay the $ 15 bill that's not even yours, and to pay for not paying the $ 15 buck fine that you didn't pay, and now to get your Winter buzzcut and other parts of your body shaved by this kid meaning Scott, and also paying him $ 5 bucks for it.

    2. Which would you rather get, paying the $ 15 buck fine/bill or getting your head shaved for the winter by this kid Scott?

    3. Do you think its gay for a young male teenager shaving his own hair and his younger brothers head?

    4. Scott told me on November 3rd, 2009 that he wants to use a # 2 all over my head whenever he does it probably it would have to be soon, but I like my hair really short in the winter, long in spring, and buzzed in the summer time. Question # 4 is do you want some of my pictures and ill send them to your email address, and you can tell me what # on the clippers should my friend Scott use to shave my head for the winter with?

    5. If I find someway to reschedule this winter buzz thing, then how old do you think Scott should be to shave my head? If you do think hes old enough explain your reasoning to that.

    6. I'll admit I think Scott is strange and weird, and sometimes gay in front of me, but what do you think of Scott personally?

    7. Can you give me any suggestions for me that you would think that's fair for Scott to do to me so I don't need to get my head shaved by Scott?

    8. Do you want to know what happens about Scott's and Jon's mess by the end of this month? If yes, then please give me your email address.

Thanks for everyone that's answered this question, and Jon wants you to have a nice and safe weekend.

Please nice comments, no bad comments unless its in the question Jon asked, then you can say bad comments.

ok first of all, this question is way too long. but second, im really bored so ill answer.

    1. its partly fair.

    2. 15 bucks.

    3. no but if it is, my brother is super gay cuz he cuts like our whole family's hair.

    4. no i dont want pictures.

    5. age doesnt matter in this situation. what matters is the amount of training he has had.

    6. he seems outgoing and rebellious i guess.

    7. why dont you just forget everything? or i guess you could just pay him.

    8. why dont you just tell everyone on additional details? that would work.

why the eff did you talk about yourself in a third person? it was confusing.

I was wondering how you would cut your hair so it would be suitable for spiking front and back (not sides).?

I have had very very short hair for quite some time now. I wanted to change my hairstyle a bit WITHOUT having to pay for a stylist to do it. I want my hair to be spiked in the front and back but not the sides. Please do not tell me to go to a salon. I am asking how to do it at home. I do own a pair of buzz clippers with attachments.

I figure that I probably will need to trim the sides a bit shorter. This is the part I mainly need help with. Thanks!I was wondering how you would cut your hair so it would be suitable for spiking front and back (not sides).?
just let it grow, then take a comb and some gel; wet your hands, and run your fingers through the top of your head. then do the same thing, but with gel instead of water. comb it how you want it from there.

you can also wet your hair a little bit on the sides and where you don't want it spiked and comb it down toward your shoulders (you can use a small amount of gel if it doesn't dry right.)

as for the cut, i'd recommend that you let it grow for a few months/weeks, then do this..

start at the bottom with your buzzer clipper thing and work your way straight up your head, which will leave the top longer and the sides trimmed shorter.

What's the best method for shaving your head?

I am planning to shave my head for the first time soon, and want to know how to avoid cuts and how to care for skin afterwards.

I have a set of hair clippers, as well as a electric shaver, although I do use disposable ones too.

Is there particular technique? Like with the hair or against it? If I used my shaver, would I have to use it like the clippers?

I am also a student, so would prefer not to have to use expensive brand name stuff, hence why I already cut my own hair. What's the best method for shaving your head?
Just pay a barber to do it. When changing hair style, it's best to pay someone who knows what they're doing. What's the best method for shaving your head?
First use the clippers with no guard to get the hair as short as possible. then take a short shower to loosen the remaining hair and lather with shaving cream (NOT GEL!) and let it set for about five minutes. Then get back in the shower with a handheld mirror and proceed to shave your head with a disposable razor. If it is your first time you will want to shave with the grain of your hair. You may want to shave with the grain the first few times until your scalp gets used to shaving. After you are done shaving use rubbing alcohol to sterilize your head. After words use lotion and aloe vera to keep your scalp moisturized. Nicks are unavoidable but they don't hurt that very much and heal in a day with very small scabs. Good luck!

How to erase lines when using hair clippers to taper different lengths?

I'm trying to learn how to cut my own hair, I'm pretty good at it.. accept I don't know exactly how to erase the line you get on your head when you use clippers, trying to fade/taper different lengths. When I use a #1 on the sides of my head, I have this line left, how do I blend it in to the number#2 on the top of my head?..someone told me to just adjust the clippers lever? or do i use the blend attachment clip, nobody does that, they usually just blend it with the clippers some how?,any advice please. How to erase lines when using hair clippers to taper different lengths?
If you use a # 1 on the bottom, and a #2 on top then you fade it in with the #1 1/2 on the line. Just push the gray lever on the side that makes the blade go back and leave it their. the go over the line. EASY! If you use a #2 on the side and a #4 on top you go over the line with a # 2 !/2 and do not go stright up with the clippers go up and out. EASY!How to erase lines when using hair clippers to taper different lengths?
Dont know how short you keep it but let's say you put on the no.3 and shaved all up and the sides. Next you would put on the no.2 and stopping a bit lower under the no.3 line, start whipping the clippers to blend line. Then hook up the no.1, repeat. Line it up.Its all about whipping the clippers to fade that line.

Is it easy to cut your own hair? Guys hair?

Im tired of spending $12 almost every 3 weeks (i hate it being long), so im deciding to try to cut my own hair and maybe add some designs,( but one step at a time). I usually just get a fade 2 on top and 0 on bottom with an edge-up, is that easy to do? Are there videos on the net that can show me how to do it? Materials i have are some adjustable clippers and a mirror, i think thats all i need.Is it easy to cut your own hair? Guys hair?
My husband does his own it always looks nice he just needs me to define the back with a razor a little bitIs it easy to cut your own hair? Guys hair?
dude that is not much. if u want to cut ur own hair and have it look like u were just put in a blender, i suggest u not do it.
I trim the front and sides of my hair and my GF does the back for me.
    Things You'll Need:

Step1.Sharp scissors Ponytail holder Comb Step You will want to begin with clean, damp hair. Just shampooed hair is best. A little leave in conditioner or hair smoothing creme works well for this, but the haircut can be done without it, that is totally up to your own preference.

Step2.Comb the hair out as smooth as possible, make sure there are no tangles in it at all. You will want to create a pony tail at the top and center of your forehead. Picture a unicorn and where the horn comes out of its head. The hair should be combed forward and the ponytail should be secured with a ponytail holder at the center and top of the forehead, where a widow's peak would be.

Step3.Hold the hair in the ponytail straight out from the head, as if imitating a unicorn. Grasp the ponytail by the last inch of hair, and cut (with the scissors pointing up) all of the hair that you are holding in your hand. If you want shorter layers, cut more hair off.

Step 4.Take the ponytail down and check out your new do!

How do u cut your own hair?

well I was thinking about getting clippers so i can cut my hair by myself. I was thinking of doing a 5 all around.I hate having to drive and WAIT at the barber forever. Will that be easy to do with a pair of clippers that you can buy from a store? How do u cut your own hair?
5 all over the head would be easy but probably not the most complementary short style. It is not that difficult to learn how to taper the back and sides with guards. Maybe #5 on the top and upper sides with a #4, #3, #2 taper on the back and sides, and with a #2 clipper edge. The cutting sequence is to start with the #5 guard at one sideburn and work to the back of the head, then do the same starting with the opposite sideburn. Cut from the edge up to the top. Then swich to a shorter cutting guard and cut from the edge to a lesser vertical distance up the head, arcing the clipper out of hte hair to blend the two lengths. Next switch to the next shorter cutting guard and repeat. When finished with the back and sides go back to the #5 guard and cut the top from the front hairline back. Since the upper sides are already cut at #5 there is no blending required. Take the guard off the clipper and trim the sideburns to the appropriate length and clean up the neck edge and ear arches. A small trimmer/edger clipper helps with this stage of the haircut.

It should help to know that every guy's short haircut consists of three steps usually performed in this order:

    1) Edging refers to designing the edge of the haircut from one sideburn around the back of the head and across the nape to the opposite sideburn.

2)Siding refers to cutting the middle section of the hair on the back and sides between the edge and the top hair.

3)Topping refers to cutting the top hair.

Edging and siding are largely the same regardless of the short ';buzzed'; style. It is the topping that differs.

Open these links and read them. It should help:

A ';coarse blade'; is usually a #1 or #1A blade. ';Fine blade'; refers to one of the zero blades. A ';long crew cut'; to Thorpe is currently more popularly referred to as an ivy league:

i wouldn't cut my hair if i didn't know what i was doing.

and no, you can't just get a normal pair of scissors.

i would go to youtube or something and do a little research first.

i know i may be going a little over board, because your probably thinking that it doesn't take that much to cut your own hair. But trust me, i have made that mistake before. It was terrible. But if you do cut your hair, angle the scissors instead of just snipping.

    good luck.

Cutting my own hair with clippers?

I usually go to the barber shop once a month to get the same haircut, #2 on sides #3 on top, and then shell out $15.00, I of course watch them cut my hair, and it looks easy to do, and I was just wondering since looks can be deceiving is it difficult to cut your won hair with clippers? And if not, what brand clipper should I buy? Also I was looking up some clippers and on descriptions it said there were multiple head attachments for the cutting, and I was wondering what does the #2 attachment and #3 attachment mean, I mean in how many inches; because I saw on some descriptions of other clippers where it was 1/8inches, 7/8 inches, etc.Cutting my own hair with clippers?
well, you can cut your hair at home yourself.....however, you still need to blend the edge between a number 2 %26amp; 3....and also clippers dont pick up every single strand of hair, so you will end up missing some.

I am a hairstylist myself...and when i do a buzz cut, i always always go through and blend it with my scissors after.

Oster clippers are in my opinion the best ones out there. they will last you YEARS if you get a higher end model....I know some stylists who have had theirs for like 20 yrs. keep them oiled all the time and a fresh blade on them.

Your clipper attachments will come with the clippers most likely. so you will get a set from 1-6 probably and it says right on the attachment what it is in inches.Cutting my own hair with clippers?
Its not that hard but will take practice. my husband just did his for th first time for the same reasons as you and it looked good and he does his the same. just get clippers with all the attachments and use the number two and three. its says on the clip and the clips are attachments. clips attachments heads all the same. but remember IT WILL GROW BACK lol

you figure your gonna spend 20 bucks on a pretty good set of clippers spending 15 a month its the bad idea part lol. try it if you cant do it get it a little shorter and have the barber fix it for you
    Wahl clippers.

No it's not easy but you'll get the hang of it.

buy some mirrors as well - one that stays in one place and another that you can move - called a shaving mirror.
i wouldn't do it...at least if you don't want to shave your head. the # has to do with the length (as you probably already know)..#1 would be the shortest attachment...#2 the second shortest etc... but be careful around the back, the crown part where you can't see...I know many a man that has messed up that part..the lines in the back can be really hard to do on yourself...how about getting another guy to cut it and then you cut his hair? that way you both save money and look good.

How can you cut your own hair to short back and sides?

I like to have my hair cut to short back and sides length with a 1 around the back and sides and just snipped quite short on top so I can spike the top up a little bit. However it grows so fast that I am constantly having to get it cut at the barbers over and over again every 2 - 3 weeks and sometimes I get a different barber who cuts it shorter than I like it making it look just too short and unspikeable on top.

    http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd147/jimmyoneshot/erberb.jpg

I want to start trying to do this myself at home if I can buy my own pair of hair clippers and was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to do it? I mean I know you obviously have to do a 1 around the back and sides but at what point do you 'blend it in' presumably with a 2 or a 3 at the corners of the head and is there a clipper number that will cut the top quite long like in that picture so I don't have to mess around with scissors which could be risky obviously?

Does anyone else do this at home themselves and can they give me any advice on it? Obviously a 'skinhead' is very easy to do but doing this and blending it in etc seems quite tricky. How can you cut your own hair to short back and sides?
You cant really do it on your own id say.If you had a friend that was confident with clippers you might get away with it . But otherwise id stick to the barbers its worth it your hair is very tidy and smart. How can you cut your own hair to short back and sides?
use barber clippers electric its fast and cheap

How difficult is it to cut your own hair with clippers?

I always get my hair cut short. The last time I got it cut, they used clippers with a #1 attachments around the sides and I think a #2 attachment for the rest. No scissors at all. This got me thinking about doing this myself at home. Anyone have any experience with using clippers on thier own hair? I'm interested in saving the time/expense of going to the barber and I'm not affraid to make a mistake or two.How difficult is it to cut your own hair with clippers?
If you want to cut your own hair, invest in a good pair of clippers. Adjustable ones are better because you can cut different lengths and even shave with them. Wahl, Andis, and Oyster Pro are good clippers and usually run from $25-$50. Make sure it's the set which includes guards #1 to #4, clipper oil, comb and clipper brush. When you cut your hair, it helps to do it in front of a mirror. Comb your hair in the direction you'll cut it. Using your choice guard, cut hair in same direction, until hair is even.(hint: going against hair grain results in shorter cut). For the sides, if you want them lower, switch back to lower guard and do the same. After you've done it once or twice, you'll find it's very easy and you can cut it to your liking. Just be patient. How difficult is it to cut your own hair with clippers?
